The wide work platform and high load capacity allow for a larger high-altitude work range and accommodate multiple workers simultaneously. Below, we will discuss the dangers of using scissor lifts outdoors in rainy weather.
1. Electric shock is the primary danger of using scissor lifts outdoors in the rain. As indoor high-altitude work equipment, scissor lifts generally do not have waterproof motors unless otherwise specified by the user. Outdoor use in rainy weather can easily damage the motor or even cause casualties due to electric leakage. Therefore, outdoor use of scissor lifts for high-altitude work should be avoided in rainy weather.
2. Lightning strikes are another major factor affecting the safety of outdoor high-altitude work using scissor lifts in rainy weather. Even with waterproof scissor lifts, outdoor work in rainy weather should be avoided to ensure the safety of personnel working at heights. Rainy weather is often accompanied by lightning. When working outdoors at heights on a scissor lift, especially without higher lightning protection measures, it's easy to attract lightning strikes, causing casualties and equipment damage.
3. When using a scissor lift for high-altitude work in rainy weather, rainwater can easily enter the hydraulic oil. If the hydraulic seals of the scissor lift are not tight, rainwater can easily enter the hydraulic oil through the gaps in the cylinder piston rod seals, or moisture can enter the hydraulic oil through a poorly sealed oil tank cap, causing hydraulic oil contamination.
