Hazards of using scissor lifts outdoors in the rain

　Scissor lifts utilize a scissor mechanical structure, providing high stability for the lifting platform. The following will discuss the dangers of using scissor lifts outdoors in rainy weather.

　　I. Electric shock is the primary hazard of using scissor lifts outdoors in rainy weather. As indoor high-altitude work equipment, unless specifically requested by the user, the electric motor generally does not have waterproof capabilities. Outdoor use in rainy weather can easily damage the motor or even cause casualties due to electrical leakage. Therefore, outdoor use of scissor lifts for high-altitude work should be avoided in rainy weather.

　　II. Lightning strikes are another important factor affecting the safety of outdoor high-altitude work with scissor lifts in rainy weather. Even with waterproof scissor lifts, to ensure the safety of personnel working at heights, outdoor work in rainy weather should be avoided. Rainy weather is often accompanied by lightning. When people are working outdoors at high altitudes on a scissor lift, especially without taller lightning protection measures nearby, it is easy to attract lightning, causing accidents, casualties, and equipment damage.

　　III. When using scissor lifts for high-altitude work in rainy weather, rainwater can easily enter the hydraulic oil. If the hydraulic seals of the scissor lift are not tight, rainwater can easily enter the hydraulic oil through the gaps in the cylinder piston rod seals, or if the oil tank lid is not properly sealed, moisture can enter the hydraulic oil through the oil tank lid, causing hydraulic oil contamination.

If it starts raining during operation, disconnect the scissor lift power, use the emergency descent valve to lower the scissor lift, and evacuate the area.
